You may be wondering a little bit about me as a supervisor, so I'm happy to offer some clarity as best that I can in this section about me! If you have any other questions, please feel free to reach out to me!

I always recommend finding a supervisor that has some experience or is actively working with the population you enjoy seeing. You may not know the exact population you want to work with and that's okay, but a general idea can be helpful. Although your supervisor does not have to have the exact clinical focus as you hope to see, its important they are willing to learn if they don't have that training!

Here's my story:
Currently I work with moms and birthing persons and young adults that are in eating disorder recovery. However, my desire had always been to work with young kids doing play therapy. I never wanted to work with adolescents, but during my graduate school practicum I really enjoyed working with teens! After graduation, I worked with teens and their parents in a private boarding school setting. Then I worked for a local non-profit as a play therapist and adolescent therapist, seeing young kids, adolescents and their families. In graduate school I worked at the Children's Advocacy Center of Smith County in a variety of roles and completed my graduate practicum there. I have a background in child sexual abuse, trauma, and play therapy. Through an unexpected meeting, I began to work with those that have food and body issues. I went into private practice and focused solely on helping teens and adults that struggle in body image and have a disordered relationship with food.

Fast forward a few years and I found an overlap with pregnancy, motherhood, eating disorders, and body image issues. My clinical focus shifted to supporting moms during pregnancy and postpartum, particularly moms that have experienced pregnancy loss, complicated pregnancy, birth trauma, eating disorders, and body image issues.

I currently see therapy clients through Maternal Mental Health of East Texas and act as the Clinical Supervisor for East Texas Eating Disorder Specialists.
